Why do muslims slowly kills the animal for halaal meat ??

One of my non-muslim freind asked a question that why do we have to slowly kill d animal for halaal meat ?

Answer:

Consumption of Blood is prohibited In Islam

Quran

2:173. He has only forbidden to you dead animals, blood, the flesh of swine, and that which has been dedicated to other than Allah.

5:3. Prohibited to you are dead animals,211 blood, the flesh of swine, and that which has been dedicated to other than Allah, and [those animals] killed by strangling or by a violent blow or by a head-long fall or by the goring of horns, and those from which a wild animal has eaten, except what you [are able to] slaughter [before its death], and those which are sacrificed on stone altars, and [prohibited is] that you seek decision through divining arrows. That is grave disobedience

16:115 He has only forbidden to you dead animals, blood, the flesh of swine, and that which has been dedicated to other than Allah.

The purpose of slaughtering is to drain out blood from the body of the animal, as it is clearly mentioned that blood is haram.

Islamic way of Slaughtering knows as Zabeeha (important to note that same method is used by Jews and Christians) is a scientifically proved method which is least painful to the animal. In slaughtering we slit the throat and wind pipe without damaging the “SPINAL CORD” due to this blood gushes out and drained completely.

This is least painful because as soon as the throat is slit blood supply to the brain is stopped and it stops working so there is no point of feeling pain, animal is dead within seconds, the muscular movement in the body of animal(for some time) is due to  gushing out of blood.

In Islam we have to fulfill many conditions before slaughtering like the knife should be sharpened , we should be quick in slaughtering so that the pain can be minimized, one should not slaughter one animal in front of other and should mention the name of Allah.

“Sahih Muslim Bk 21, Number 4810:
Shaddid b. Aus said: Two are the things which I remember Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) having said: Verily Allah has enjoined goodness to everything; so when you kill, kill in a good way and when you slaughter, slaughter in a good way. So every one of you should sharpen his knife, and let the slaughtered animal die comfortably.”

Now compare with the Non believers way of killing by Jhatka/stunning (killing in one stroke), this is the most inhuman act any one can do!! In case of small animals/birds it may be possible to kill in one stroke but in case of others its practically impossible, they keep on striking the animal again and again (with axe) over his neck(from behind) …This looks cruel, very painful for the animal (some time it takes a long time... before animal dies).

Second thing as this method damages the spinal cord which results in cardiac arrest (mostly), heart stops pumping blood, therefore blood remains in the body of the animal which is unhygienic and act as a carrier of various diseases.

Blood is a good medium for spreading diseases. Its unhygienic this is a scientific fact no one can deny this.

Now compare Zabeeha with Jhatka (Killing in one stroke).

  1. Least painful.
  2. Hygienic as the blood is drained out.
  3. Remains fresh for longer period of time.

For halaal meat one of the essential criteria is that it should be in the name of Allah only.

Quran

6:162 Say, "Indeed, my prayer, my rites of sacrifice, my living and my dying are for Allah, Lord of the worlds.

So if anyone is doing zabeeha without taking Allah' s name or taking someone else's name...then too its haraam.

And Allah knows best
