In the Footsteps of the Jews and the Christians: Inch by Inch and Cubit by Cubit

Have you ever gave a thought as to why one third of the Qur'an tells us about the Ahl e Kitab,

specially the Bani Israel ? The reason is simple: The past tense of the Bani Israel is the present

tense of this Ummah. As the Hadith forsees : My Ummah will follow the Jews and the Christians

inch by inch and cubit by cubit ........

Let us see our own selves in the context of some verses that speaks about the mischief of the

Ahl e Kitab.

Once upon a time the Bani Israel were the chosen people of Allah as the Qur'an testifies: "Anni

Faddaltukum alal Alameen". Indeed we chose you above the people of the world Surah Baqarah

ch 2, verse 47 .

A similar title is also bestowed upon the Muslims in Surah Imran ch 3 verse 110 : "You are the

Best of the people"

Both the communities were blessed by immense help, support and bounties from Allah . Check

the list below:

1. Moses was given Book and a criterion, Surah Baqarah ch 2 verse 60 One of the Title of the        Qur'an is also Furqan which means criterion.

2. Allah bestowed upon the Bani Israel Manno and salwa food from jannah , Prophets and kings

were appointed from them, for guiding them. Water gushed out from stones to quench their thirst, Clouds shaded them where ever they went in the desert, their enemy Pharoah was drowned

in front fo their eyes ...Prophet Muhammed (pbuh) delcared : There is no miracle greater than the Qur'an. The Qur'an also declares that Islam the religion is a favor of Allah upon the Muslims.

Note it in Surah Maidah, ch 5 verse 3. This day I have perfected your religion for you and

completed my favor upon you .......

In spite of all these favors of Allah the Bani Israel faced the wrath of Allah and the Muslims too

are going the same way if you analyze the present scenario on the political front, socioeducational front and all that. So let us see what did the Bani Israeli did that we are also doing.

1. O People of the book do not commit excess in your religion and do not say about Allah except what is truth. The Bible itself gives a lot of accounts how corrupted their creed is regarding Allah. For them Allah gets tired, he repents for creating man..... Today almost all the Muslim sects have differed in the concept of Allah, many giving human attributes to Allah which does not suit His Majesty

2. The B ani Israel covered the truth with falsehood Surah Baqarah ch 2 verse42. With so many sects in the market many so called Muslim scholars have covered truth with false hood to boast their fiqh (religious jurisprudence ) upon other sects. There are so many books written on Islam but have distorted the meaning of the Book of Allah through fictitious tales and out of context interpretations.

3. The Bani Israels believed in some parts of the Torah and rejected other .. Surah Baqarah

ch 2 , verse 85. Today many Islamic books shops sell ‘Punj Surah’ ‘Five Surahs” limiting the reading of Qur’an to five selected Surahs only and they think this is enough for them for salvation and other part not required. There can be an entire editorial written on this issue only.

4. They were given the Book but did not carry on the responsibilities given to them so their example is the example of a donkey.. Surah Jumuah ch 62 verse 5. Don’t we many such donkeys in our own community? If you want to check up whether you are one of those donkeys or not just see the verse “ O you who have believed and check up have you fulfilled those obligations mentioned in those verses?

5. There was a man Samiri who moulded a Calf as god for the Bani Israel and called them to worship it and many worshipped it. We have hundreds of Samiris inviting Muslims to worship taghoots.

6. They took up their priests and religious scholars as their Rabb. Surah Toubah ch 9 verse .31 The prophet explained the verse: it means to take up as haram everything that the religious scholars and priests say and take it as halal every thing they declare to be halal.,.. Without cross checking them in the book of Allah.

7. Finally last but not the least : They boasted that ‘ Fire will not touch as except for a few days’.

 Havent we heard about this boastful statement in our sermons and gatherings. A noted tabeen , student of the sahaba says: I have met many Badri sahaba (those who fought in the battle of Badr) and all of them feared that they wer hypocrites… today most of us are arrogant about our sects and are guaranteed by the leaders of sects that they are indeed the saved sect.

Then what happened to the Bani Israel is happening to us as well. …They were slapped with humiliations and disasters of poverty …( the arabic word zuribat means literally slapping or beating) Surah Baqarah ch 2 verse 61. If you the read the history you will find that the Bani Israel were scattered and were enslaved by the Persians, the Romans and the Greeks, all of them were super power of their time. Today , haven’t the Super powers of our time subjugated us? Out rulers are invaded and hanged in public, our oil and other mineral wealth is taken away to their lands for their luxury. Our policies are dictated by the US and other super powers. Our elite film stars, industrialist, sports men politicians are frisked at the airports, our innocents are arrested

and tortured.
