Building a Parallel Career in Da'wah

Building a Parallel Career in Da'wah

Shaikh Saleem Amry is one of the finest speaker on Peace TV . Last year he had come to Mumbai with a prepared workshop on Touhid, and we shot approximately 120 episodes of half hour each, in just one week.  A remarkable acheivement by the Da'ee. More remarkable and note worthy point is : He is an Engineer by academic qualification but has pursued Islamic studies along with his high profile career. For him Da'wah and Islah are also high profile careers and his passion to do da'wah made him get going and he studied Islam under the students of Shaikh Nasiruddin Albani.

Assim al Hakeem is another high profile Da'ee a graduate from Ummul Qura' University in Makkah. His biodata says that he had  occupied a managerial position in a leading global industrial company and now is  an HR and PR director of a company inSaudia. He was closely in touch with shaikh Uthaimeen and learnt a lot from him.

In my da'wah career of a decade I have seen many MBAs, Engineers, Doctors enthusiatically joining the Da'wah groups but slowly they fade away like stars in horizon. Many of such daee's who opt out of da'wah reason weak arguments that they cannot balance between da'wah and jobs. Today with the advent of Media there are  many careers that have sprung up from Da'wah perspective offering opportunities in anchoring Islamic programs, administering Daw'ah centers or Islamic Institutions....

If you are a writer then you can write books promoting Islam and use your writing skills while continuing your present profession. If you cannot write but you are rich enough  then it would be good if you publish the work of some writer whose books have the potential of promoting Islam. If you are not so rich you can atleast buy Islamic books and distribute them.

If you are a student and are passionate about da'wah then learn skills in communications. My first lessons in  public speaking  were learnt from a Christian trainer and I paid him good because  I knew this skill would help me in many walks on  life, and it helped.   My years as a field reporter under a renowned Gujarati writer helped me improve my thinking and analysing skills, this too, I took up to learn more while continuing my father's Clothes business. I know of young men and women who have learn languages while continuing their present careers. The only thing they had to do was to put extra efforts after a tiring day from the job. Worldwide people have build parallel careers while hanging to their own jobs and professions and they grew up as masters in that field.

A young lady I know, has studied in an ordinary Englsh school, but on her own she choose to improve her American accent and today she speaks  correct English. My English teacher, my paternal aunt Hameeda, told me that she had been working on her English skills for years and today as per my knowledge she is the best  English speaking person in her circle as well as in our own Nadiadwala Family. Using language correctly helps you in your career and also in Da'wah because people  initially judge you by your looks then they observe your manners and speaking style.

I would advice all the young people who want to go ahead in da'wah to improve various skills that are  required for an impactful Da'wah and mastering a language is one of them
